Sierra Investment Group, Inc. Can Help Your Organization Become a Non-Profit

Sierra Investment Group Inc. Carson City Nevada doesn’t just write business plans. We can also help you prepare and file your organization’s status as a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

What does becoming a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization do for you?

  1. Your organization pays less taxes. 501(c)(3) non-profits don’t pay federal corporate income tax except on income derived from unrelated business income. This alone may say save your organization five to 95% of its taxable income. Your organization may also be exempt from state corporate income, franchise, excise, use, and sales taxes. Contact your state tax office for more information.
  2. Your organization can give donors an incentive to donate. 501(c)(3) organizations can offer both individual donors and corporate donors a tax deduction for their charitable donations.
  3. Your organiation becomes eligible for private foundation grants. Private foundations are required by law to distribute money for charitable purposes. One of the ways they dispose of this obligation is making grants to 501(c)(3) organization.
  4. Your organization may become eligible to lobby politicians. This ability, called the 501(h) election, is not available to churches or private foundations, but it is available to public charities. Refer to federal 501(h) rules for what kind of lobby you may do and how much money you can spend on it.

About Sean D. Daily

Sean Daily was a mild-mannered social marketer in Las Vegas until a freak laboratory accident at the Spearmint Rhino gave him writing powers and abilities beyond those of mortal men. Since it's hard to fight crime with writing powers and abilities beyond those of mortal men, though, he decided to become a speculative fiction writer instead. He's currently working on the urban fantasy novel "Crossing the Line" and the science fiction comic book "Sidestep".
